Brazil ( Rasainforma.com ) .- Official sources reported that at least 131 monkeys have died since the beginning of the year in Rio de Janeiro , due to human attacks, fearing that they may aggravate the outbreak of yellow fever in the state.
Only 69 percent of the animals collected had signs of human violence, either from beatings or poisoning.

The Undersecretariat of Surveillance , Sanitary Inspection and Control of Zoonoses ( Subvisa ), indicated that, of the 131 monkeys killed, 32 were found in the city of Rio de Janeiro, the environmentalists express their concern and clarify that the monkeys are allies to combat the Yellow fever, since they help identify areas with the presence of viruses.
Likewise, they asserted that the population does not know that yellow fever is only acquired through the bite of an infected mosquito .
Faced with this situation, the Green Line , a platform for denunciation by the municipality of Rio de Janeiro for environmental crimes , launched a campaign against the attack on monkeys in which it invites those who know of an episode to call or send photos and videos, always with anonymity guarantee .
